Brand Platform
When a brand needs a direction
Logos, packaging and websites are the part of a brand everyone sees, but what shapes them sits in a deeper layer that few people see.
A brand platform is where a business writes down why it exists, who it wants to become, which values it holds and what personality it has. FreshBrand works with the business to distill all of this into a short platform, clear enough for the whole team to understand and use when making decisions.

Perspective
A vision, a mission and core values usually already exist in the company profile, but they are written so generally that they could belong to any company. When it is time to choose a product direction, a partner or a way of talking to customers, nobody opens them.
A brand platform is useful when it answers the questions a business actually faces: why the business exists, what it will not trade away, and how customers should feel about it. To get there, FreshBrand builds the platform from the business’s own journey, capabilities and ambition, then writes it in language the team can use every day.
For FreshBrand, the brand platform is the first layer of a system, the place where every later choice about strategy, identity and experience begins.
When to start here
A business needs a clear platform most when it is preparing to grow, changing direction, or when each department has started to understand the brand in its own way.

When a business is preparing to grow
In 2015, HADUCO set its brand platform on two pillars: professional strength and the commitment to Safety, Excellence and Responsibility. The company then had about 19 vessels; 11 years later it has about 50, with operations expanded from Southeast Asia into Asia, and still on the same platform.

When a new direction needs new values
When SCB moved toward modern retail banking, the new platform carried forward the values that had built the bank’s standing. At the same time, three core values, Modern, Versatile and Friendly, were set for a direction centered on the customer experience.

When a brand needs a role bigger than its product
The Ton Dong A platform was built on two pillars: real strength in quality and technology, and a commitment to help build a greener, more sustainable life. From that, “together we build green life” gave the brand a role that reaches beyond rolls of sheet steel.

When many industries need a common language
The Lasuco platform connects its farming roots and the land of Thanh Hoa to a direction of specialized agriculture. “It’s all natural” became the common language linking products, origins and responsibility to farmers and consumers alike.
How FreshBrand works
FreshBrand builds the platform from the inside out: starting from what the business has believed and done over many years, and only then writing it into a document the team can use when making decisions.
Where is the brand now?
We start with the business’s journey, what the founders and leadership believe, the values that actually operate inside the company, and the statements that already exist but have never been put to use.
Which questions must the platform answer?
A complete platform answers four questions, in order from the deepest layer outward.
PurposeWhy the business needs to exist
VisionWhat the brand wants to become in the future
ValuesWhat does not change, even when products or markets do
PersonalityHow the brand speaks and behaves
What do we choose?
A usable platform is usually shorter than a business expects, because everything kept has to be clear enough to lead to a decision.
Few pillarsTwo pillars that link capability to promise, like HADUCO’s professional strength and commitment
Few valuesThree to four values, like SCB’s Modern, Versatile and Friendly
Paired personalityTwo sides that balance each other, like “Professional but friendly”
How does the strategy come to life?
The platform is written as a short document, then becomes the starting point for positioning, architecture, naming, the tagline and the identity system. That way, every later element can be traced back to something written in the platform.
What will actually change?
A platform shows its value when the team takes it out to check against each time they have to choose between two directions, and when the business grows while the brand keeps its personality.
What the business keeps
A platform is only worth something when it is opened at the moment of decision, so the handover is written for daily use instead of staying in a file.
- A brand platform document covering purpose, vision, core values and personality.
- Brand pillars that connect the business’s capabilities to its promise to customers.
- An explanation of each value through concrete examples from daily work.
- Direction for the brand’s strategy, language and identity in the steps that follow.
Brand purpose
Products and markets can change, and the reason the business needs to exist is what keeps the brand on course when they do. Purpose has three parts.
- Reason for being: What makes the brand worth having in customers’ lives.
- Values pursued: What the brand chooses to protect, even at a cost.
- Change it wants to make: What the brand wants to do differently for customers or for the industry, like Oreli’s vision of pioneering premium dental care in Dak Lak.
Brand culture
A brand is only consistent on the outside when the people working inside understand it together, so the platform has to be written for the team as well as for customers.
- Values as behavior: Each value comes with concrete actions, so the team knows what it means in their work.
- Shared language: A brand language that helps the team and the distribution network understand and present the brand in the same way, as at Qui Phuc.
- Internal touchpoints: Offices, documents and shared company occasions that repeat the same spirit.

In practice
OreliPlatform and new brand, 2017
When every choice grows out of one platform
In 2017, a dental clinic about to open in Dak Lak had no name and no logo; with no old brand to renew, everything had to be created from the ground up, and the starting point was the project’s vision.
“Pioneering premium oral healthcare in Dak Lak.”
From that vision, the platform set four core values (Professional Skill, Happiness & Dedication, Honesty, Utility & Convenience) and a personality written as three pairs: professional but friendly, dedicated but modern, trustworthy but approachable.

Strategy, architecture, naming, the tagline, identity and experience all followed from that first platform. For more than 8 years, the platform built in 2017 has stayed in consistent use as Oreli grew from a single clinic into a system of several locations.
