Overview
The new brand platform for Ton Dong A was built on strengths and values already proven, while giving more prominence to the company’s capability, reputation and standing, so that the brand is recognized more clearly and in line with the strength it already has.
With the commitment “Together we build green life”, Ton Dong A aims to be seen as a brand that not only supplies quality products but also stays close to the community, working alongside it to create a sustainable living environment and positive value for the future.
Context
Where did the brand stand?
By 2014, Ton Dong A had built a solid manufacturing base with modern technology, large production capacity and a clear commitment to quality. The company was upgrading its products, aiming at the premium segment and FDI projects, and expanding into export markets.
Meanwhile, the coated steel sheet market was entering a period of intense competition. Large domestic brands were steadily strengthening their positions, and pressure from low-priced imports demanded more in quality, differentiation and competitiveness.
Ton Dong A therefore faced a turning point: it had to go beyond building strength and make that strength a value the market could see and feel in proportion.

Problem
What really had to be renewed?
Ton Dong A was being “hidden” behind its dealer network.
End consumers did not recognize or seek out the brand on their own, and relied heavily on the seller’s recommendation. At the point of sale, where the buying decision is made, Ton Dong A’s image was limited in both presence and content.
Meanwhile, what the company was investing in (technology, quality and production capacity) had not yet been turned into a brand image clear enough in consumers’ minds.
Ton Dong A did not lack strength. The problem was the gap between the real value it had and the value the market perceived.
The position had to shift from “a good supplier recommended by dealers” to “a brand consumers actively recognize, trust and choose”.

Discovery
What did FreshBrand see?
Through research, observation and conversation with Ton Dong A, FreshBrand saw a paradox:
A company with very good “bones”, whose brand was “hiding”.
Ton Dong A had a modern manufacturing base, advanced technology, a clear focus on quality and a place among the industry’s large companies. But those values had not yet become a matching presence in the minds of end consumers.
Dependence on dealers therefore went beyond distribution. It created a strategic gap: the brand was handing most of the choice to an intermediary.
Insight
“Consumers trust the dealer more than the brand, because Ton Dong A is not yet present enough to be trusted.”
Diagnosis
Ton Dong A was not yet “seen” and “felt” in line with its real strength.
This was the bottleneck that brand repositioning had to resolve.

Point of view
How did FreshBrand read the problem?
FreshBrand did not see Ton Dong A as a company that needed to create an entirely new value.
The value was already there. The problem was that it had not been fully seen.
So repositioning began with the gap between “what exists” and “what is perceived”, rather than with a chase after a new image.
From there, FreshBrand set its point of view:
Ton Dong A does not lack quality. It lacks a presence equal to it.
This point of view became the guide for the whole strategy: compete not by shouting louder but by being present more clearly and more truthfully, with every identity, communication, point-of-sale and content solution helping to close the gap between strength and perception.

Strategy
What did we choose?
The strategy began by deciding what to keep, renew, focus on and develop.
- KeepThe foundation of quality, modern technology, production capacity, the focus on the premium and FDI segment, and the distribution system with its dealer relationships.
- RenewHow the brand appears to consumers: from a brand introduced by dealers to a brand buyers recognize and trust on their own.
- FocusMaking real strength seen and felt accurately, and building presence at the point of sale and in the minds of end consumers.
- GrowA strong, consistent, memorable identity system, with content and experiences that help consumers better understand Ton Dong A’s quality, technology and difference.
Rather than racing to refresh the product or proclaiming quality in empty words, the focus was on making what Ton Dong A already did well clear, present and credible in the eyes of end consumers.

Renewal
How was the strategy brought to life?
The strategy was turned into one unified brand system, from the strategic platform to the way the brand shows up in the market.
- PlatformThe Brand Platform was built on two pillars: real strength in quality & technology, and a commitment to help build a greener, more sustainable life.
- Architecture & namingThe brand structure stayed centralized under one shared roof, TON DONG A. Dropping the Vietnamese diacritics for TON DONG A makes the name easier to read, remember and pronounce internationally while keeping the “Dong A” root.
- Identity & meaningThe new Brand Identity system turns values of quality, energy and sustainability into a brand language.
- Together we build green lifeTon Dong A gained a role beyond its products: standing alongside the community, with the commitment “Together we build green life”.
- TouchpointsIdentity, packaging, points of sale, showroom, digital, motion, communication and guidelines were developed so the strategy shows up clearly and consistently in the brand experience.

Impact
What really changed?
The renewal changed how Ton Dong A is recognized, and with it how the brand’s values are carried into experience and perception.
- IdentityA clearer, more consistent and more recognizable brand system, which increases Ton Dong A’s presence wherever it meets consumers.
- ExperienceTouchpoints were reorganized to bring values of quality, technology and a green direction into the brand experience more clearly.
- PerceptionTon Dong A was set on a path from a supplier with real strength to a brand with clearer presence and perceived value.
- TrustThe new brand system lays the groundwork for building awareness and trust directly with consumers, step by step reducing total dependence on dealer recommendations.
At the same time, “Together we build green life” extends the brand story from the product to a role alongside the community.

Value created
How did the brand come to mean more?
- Identity valueA clearer, more modern and more memorable brand through its name, identity system and tagline.
- Perceived valueNarrowing the gap between manufacturing strength and market perception, so the quality that was always there is seen more clearly.
- Meaning valueExtending the brand’s role from supplying products to working alongside the community to build a green life.
- Long-term valueA base from which Ton Dong A can build trust with consumers on its own and keep growing its brand value over time.
The greatest value lies not in a new identity or a tagline, but in making the strength that was always there seen and felt more accurately.
